The Eastern regional derby between Koforidua Semper Fi and Okwawu United ended in a 1-1 draw, despite being played over two days due to heavy rains that forced the match officials to suspend play on Sunday.

The game resumed on Monday morning at the Akosombo Akotex Park, where both teams settled for a share of the spoils.

Koforidua Semper Fi took the lead in the first half on Sunday with a goal from Samuel Adonteng, showcasing their determination to secure an away victory. However, adverse weather conditions soon made the pitch unplayable, prompting officials to postpone the remainder of the match until Monday.

When play resumed, Okwawu United adjusted their tactics and came back with renewed vigor. Their efforts paid off when Mustapha Issah found the back of the net, equalizing for Okwawu United and ensuring the derby ended in a stalemate.

The draw leaves Koforidua Semper Fi in ninth position in Zone III of Access Bank Division One League, with just one win from their first five matches.

Despite the lack of impressive results thus far, coach Isaac Agyemang and his players remain optimistic about turning their fortunes around as the season progresses.

The team is eager to build on their performance in the derby and aims to secure crucial points in their upcoming fixtures.
